Community Project
Places We Meet - Art in Public Spaces

Stavanger 2025-2027

The Community project as part of ‘Places We Meet – Art in Public Spaces’ engage with the area of Våland as a social place. The goal is to develop an art project that fosters meaningful connections between the selected artist and a specific target group — such as a neighbourhood, young people, immigrants, school children, institutions, or other local communities.

With their socially engaged and participatory practices, and with experience in actively involving local communities as co- creators in artistic processes, we are happy to announce that the artist duo Skrinde & Rønnevik has been selected for the Community project.

Skrinde & Rønnevik take their art practice out of the gallery space and into everyday life in the city, along the coast and in the landscape, where they create and choreograph spaces and situations. Situations that often consist of temporary social encounters between people, nature and landscape. Situations that are free from consumption and competition.

Skrinde & Rønnevik want to enable sensory experiences, awareness and reflection in more everyday and social situations. It is crucial to them that the participants are co-creators in the process, and that they have an experience of mastery and equality.

Kamilla Skrinde grew up in Våland and has a strong bond with the district, and Kristen Rønnevik has spent a lot of time there through various artist residencies.
